Happy Easter! He is risen! And you reply…He is risen Indeed!
Friday was called “Good” and we know what Easter means–we celebrate the resurrection but today is Saturday. We are in between two very significant days. And isn’t that the reality most of the time.
This is one of the stories I tell in the book, backwards: Created to Live SENT Here is a story of what community can look like when it is working well. I took my son, Jeremy, and his son, Landon, to the Lenexa, Kansas, BBQ cook-off. We joined my neighbors, Harry and Doug, who were competing.
This is Good Friday, the day we often thing of Jesus’ death on the cross in order to redeem us. It was a part of the turning point in human history. The death and resurrection of Jesus is the hing on which all of history turns.
I want to tell you a story to get started that comes from the book, backwards: Created to Live SENT. This is Kelly Barcol’s Story: Kelly was a hurting teenager who managed to find trouble at every turn. He had a quick temper and a smart mouth.
In case you got snowed in Sunday or you want to forward Sunday’s message, You Don’t Always Get What You Want, here it is:
Everyone who’s prayed has also had times where they prayed and prayed and prayed and things didn’t happen the way they wanted or in the timing they wanted. We celebrate that God has done a lot of mighty miracles in the scriptures but we don’t get one every time we ask, at least not the way we think. Jesus healed a lot of people but there were also times where He only healed one, like the man at the pool.
Here is the rest of the El Fuego story: Several years ago Indian Creek Student Ministry partnered with Youth Front and others to travel to Mexico every year for twelve years! I led many of those trips and we developed some very good friends in Monterrey, Mexico. Many of you would know the name Enrique Cepeda.
If you missed out because of the snow we had great services and Spring Fest. We missed you. Here is the message I shared today if you’d like to read it We_Don_t_Always_Get_What_We_Think_We_Want.docx We’ve been in a series about Miracles for the last five weeks, if you’ve been thinking, Where’s mine?
