Indian Creek is Living Out Loud

Way to Go Indian Creek! It’s been hard to sit on such good news and I finally get to congratulate you on the Live Out LOUD offering. On Christmas Sunday we gave our largest offering of the year away! There were 285 families who generously contributed. That is 150 more families/or individuals than typically give on an average week. And of those 25 were first time givers. Are you ready for the grand total? Nearly $73,000 was contributed to the four causes for which we are so passionate. We gave it all away to causes outside of ourselves and it felt so good!

A New Heart

One of the books I’m reading over the holidays is, Primal, by Mark Batterson. This will be the fourth book by Mark that I’ve read and I love every one. I’m using one of his stories in the Christmas Eve message tonight at 5 and 9 p.m. at Indian Creek, Olathe. It is the story of a heart surgeon, Dr. Frist.

Invite to Christmas Eve

One service can change everything! This year I heard a story that I will always remember when it comes to Christmas Eve. A young lady came to Indian Creek for the first time on Christmas Eve. She’d been away from God and away from any church for some time. When she attended on Christmas Eve she knew she was “home.” She rededicated her life and she came often for months. During the year she learned she had cancer. It was a fast growing kind of cancer and she didn’t live very long. However, when she left for eternity she left with a peace about her relationship with God and with peace about her past. I’m so glad she she on Christmas Eve. I don’t know where she would have been without what happened at that service.

Generosity in Difficult Times

Today is the day we live out LOUD at Indian Creek Community Church. For two months we’ve been talking, praying and planning to give an offering to the four causes for which we are passionate. I’m hoping and praying we have our largest single day offering ever because we are GIVING IT ALL AWAY!

Here is one families’ story of their decision to tithe and give to the LIVE OUT LOUD offering dispite their difficult times financially. (I”ve changed the names).

We would NOT miss tomorrow for anything! We’ve been looking forward to it since the LIVE OUT dinner/praise night. I wish we could bring food for the food tree but we cannot afford to purchase anything right now.

A Miraculous Answer to Prayer

We are in a message series at Indian Creek, “I Need a Miracle.” God is proving Faithful. This miracle comes through answered prayer. I’m withholding the name and I’ve changed some of the non-essential details because it is a story in progress. However, I’ve been encouraged to share it by the person living it to motivate others to pray. Belinda and I consider it a privilege to pray for others. What a joy to be used by God to accomplish His purposes.

Live Out LOUD

I am so excited about Sunday, Dec 20, that I can’t stand it. That is the day we give our whole offering away to the four causes–the Global cause, the Local cause, the Multi-site cause and the Community Center cause. I’m hoping and praying that it is our largest offering ever at Indian Creek. Click on “blog” to read on… Click on the RSS feed to subscribe.

What to do with “Words from God”

As a pastor I receive many “words from God”. I thought I would take the time to share the process I use to sort through these and attempt to find God’s best. I don’t offer it as the “final” word but I hope it is a place to start. My guess is that if you are serving God you get these too so I hope this helps.

$17.65 at the Perfect Time

Cheryl told me a story tonight that I want to pass on. She said she as at work on Thursday when she felt prompted to give a gift to a co-worker. Her initial thought was to wait until another day after she had time to go by the bank and get more money. She only had a ten, some ones and a some change, $17.65. But the prompting she felt was persistent. The thought was do it today. So she put the money in a bag and the next time she saw her friend she gave him the gift.

The Gold Coin

The crazy generosity stories just keep coming in. I love it when a truth becomes a movement. There is a man in our congregation at Indian Creek who received a gold coin from time to time from his grandmother when he was growing up. By the time he was an adult he had ten or so of these coins.
