I’ve been fighting a cold for nearly two weeks. It started off as a very sore throat that became a deep cough. Last Sunday when I spoke at Gardner I got a tickle in my throat that wouldn’t go away.
I’ve been fighting a cold for nearly two weeks. It started off as a very sore throat that became a deep cough. Last Sunday when I spoke at Gardner I got a tickle in my throat that wouldn’t go away.
A little less than a year ago I finished writing a book on spiritual formation titled: “backwards”. The audience I targeted is those who do not yet know Jesus (therefore are living “backward” and/or those who just accepted Him. As with any new book unless you have a publisher pushing it the word spreads mostly through word of mouth or like it is here–electronically. There are five churches using the discipleship material and I’m getting good feedback.
This is how Chapter 10 begins in the book “backwards: Created to live SENT. You are going to be asked to go to China and India and when you are you are to say yes. Those were the words I heard in my head as I walked out of a conference center after speaking to a group of Pastors in Monterrey, Mexico.
Many of you who follow Living SENT, Indian Creek and Project Partner know we have a team in Asia for a medical mission. They made it safely and they begin work today as we are going to bed. They had some unusual travel arrangements but they handled them just fine.
Tomorrow we continue the Soul Detox series at Indian Creek. Here is an excerpt from the message I’ve written for the Gardner campus: Many people focus on detoxing to keep our bodies healthy, which is good, but I want to talk about detoxing to keep our souls healthy. There are many in our culture who will look great on the outside but are tortured on the inside.
I got up at 4:30 a.m. to take Belinda and Katrina to the airport for their medical mission trip. You can read about it here. A few hours later I learned they were not going to be able to leave for Chicago on time because the air traffic was severely backed up there due to all the rain and flooding.

Belinda leaves for Asia tomorrow to participate in Project Partner’s medical mission. Please pray for our American team of Belinda, Katrina Planck and Steve Igarta. They will join a Project Partner volunteer from Singapore and our Chinese partners.
Leading up to Easter I felt led to fast for 40 days using the Daniel Fast. I refrained from meat, sugars, breads, alcohol and “no fine foods.” The first two weeks were hard primarily because I was so used to just eating whatever I wanted. I had to develop discipline and that is always good.
Today was a great day at Indian Creek not because anything tremendously new or different happened but because of the many things that are already happening and the power that comes in the ripple effect of multiplied life change. I would say it was a pretty normal Sunday but what is happening through the various ministries and many persons is anything but normal. It is actually divine as Jesus works through His church today.
