I’m often asked about the bigger story of www.iglworld.org led by Sam Stephens. We’ve been partner for 22 years. My wife, Belinda has been to India 16 times.
We enjoyed the visit with Sam Stephens President of the India Gospel League last week. We accepted a BIG challenge. We are out to find 10-15 churches who will work with Indian Creek as partner churches to adopt an unreached people group in the district of Orissa.
At Indian Creek we set a goal of sending 75 persons from our congregation out of the country on a cross-cultural mission experience this year. We plan to do the same over the next 5 yrs until 50% of our community has gone to serve with our partners. We believe we will accomplish two things.
I invested the last two days in trustee meetings at MACU, or Mid-America Christian University. I love what God is doing there. Under the capable leadership of President John Fozard the school is experiencing 400% growth in the last few years.
Yesterday I was privileged to meet Dr. Rahmat Rahmat (yes it is really two names back to back) who discovered the “God Particle” also called the Higgs Boson that has eluded scientists for years. You can read about it here.
Joy is possible because we exercise faith, trust and hope. We can relax and rejoice because God is in control and that means we don’t have to be. I like what Dallas Willard says about those who think God is against fun. Failure to obtain a deeply satisfying life always has the effect of making sinful actions seem good. Today I got to speak to the students and leaders at Journey Student Ministries on the Olathe campus of Indian Creek. Wow! What a great group.
Three weeks down on the “One Prayer” focus and three to go. Belinda Kendall and I have been on the Daniel Fast during this time to help keep us focused and to help us remember to pray. The second part is working! I’m hungry most of the time.
For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.
