I’ve been noodling lately Noodling Do you ever noodle? I’ve been noodling a lot lately and no it is not because I love Chinese food although Asian food may well be my favorite. You won’t find this in Webster’s but when I think about something over and over I call that “noodling.” I’ve been noodling on the potential of reaching a particular point where everything changes.
Sunday I speak at Indian Creek Community Church’s Olathe campus where I am the Lead Pastor. We set aside these next two weeks to talk about the next season at the Creek. I want you to come on Sunday if possible to catch your own piece of the puzzle.
It was great to get to spend time today with Frouad Masri the Founder of the The Crescent Project, a ministry that reaches Muslims with the Good News of Jesus. He is the author of the Bridges curriculum. I love his passion and heart for his people.
I respect Rev. Adam Hamilton, Lead Pastor of The Church of the Resurrection and consider him a friend. I’m thankful for his church and the compassionate way they serve our city.
I’m so proud of my Mother-in-law, Alberta Barker, who was baptized this Wednesday in Morehead, KY. My wife, Belinda, and her sister, Rhonda, had the privilege of performing the baptism. Alberta accepted Jesus as her Forgiver and Leader at the end of last week.
On one of the last days of last year my son, Luke Kendall, introduced me to Audible.com. It’s a site where you can download books which are set up so you can listen to them (you can even turn them up at 1.5 or 2x the natural speed like I do). I saw the potential in part because I spend a lot of time working out inside during the winter.
Recently Pastor Rick McClain of Lake Charles, LA, used the Living SENT series at his church, Christ Community Church. Here is what he had to say about it: Gary, “Sent” went very well for us. We do small groups in semesters — 3 semesters per year with breaks in between.
I think I’m the last one in my family to wear Tom’s Shoes. I actually had a pair of sun glasses before the shoes but this Christmas Belinda bought me my first pair. I waited until the snow disappeared and I’ve been wearing them the last few days.
At Indian Creek Community Church we have a six plus year relationship partnering with Countryside Elementary School. Recently one of the teachers wrote us this note: During the last 7 years of teaching at Countryside Elementary, your church has crossed my mind numerous times and I continue to be astonished with the unconditional service you give to our community, school and students. Your generosity is astounding and the numerous volunteers are incredible.
